Wilsonville Spokesman endorses Paul Savas for Clackamas County Commissioner Position 2
In the May 5th edition of the Wilsonville Spokesman an article titled “Taking a look at the primary election ballot” you will find the following excerpt:
Clackamas County Commission
In the commission seat 2 race, we see Paul Savas as a needed change on the commission. Savas who has been involved with county issues---including the Metro reserves process---knows what’s going, and would bring a different point of view to the commission. A business owner and advocate for transparency, we like Savas’s message.
Yet, there are aspects about Bob Austin we like as well. Although we are troubled about Austin’s refusal to sign a letter from the county to Sen. Jeff Merkley about the Klamath Tribes proposal to put the Langdon Farms property into trust. At the time he said, after working with numerous American Indian tribes, he was concerned with tribal rights. But according to election records he later received a $2,500 contribution from Chris and Tom Meletis, the brothers who own the property.
Savas was honest in saying he needed to look into the Langdon Farms issue more, but did voice concern about protecting farmland. However he is the only candidate in the primary election that would represent the rural parts of Clackamas County. He is also very businesslike and analytical in his approach—both aspects we like. If you are worried about rural representation, Austin from Estacada, is a very good candidate. We found Warren Kitchen more interested in finding quotations from the founding fathers than the issues surrounding Clackamas County.
