Launching My Re-Election Campaign
Dear Friend,
It seems like yesterday, but it was sixteen years ago that I first threw my hat in the ring for County Commissioner. Since that time, I’ve been proud to serve Clackamas County by focusing on supporting law enforcement, fiscal responsibility, government transparency, and ensuring Clackamas County is a safe, prosperous, and delightful place to raise your family.
Last month, I officially launched my re-election campaign.
Our county is at a critical moment. At a time when many governments are raising taxes or cutting core services, Clackamas County has proven that responsible leadership still matters.
Under my watch, Clackamas County was the only urban county in Oregon to end last year in the black—without raising taxes or cutting services. In fact, we opened two new libraries in Gladstone and Oak Grove, a new courthouse, and continue investments in the services families rely on every day.
Public safety has been, and will remain, one of my top priorities. I strongly support law enforcement and the difficult work they do to keep our communities safe. That’s why I am especially proud to have the endorsement of the Clackamas County Peace Officers Association. Their support means a great deal to me, and I will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the men and women who serve on the front lines. (The growing list of endorsements is here.)
At the same time, I’ve worked to hold the line on the budget, making tough, disciplined decisions so we can protect public safety, address affordability, and ensure taxpayers get real value for every dollar. That kind of balance doesn’t happen by accident. It takes experience, collaboration, and a willingness to focus on results instead of headlines.
There is still important work ahead: strengthening public safety staffing, addressing homelessness with accountability and compassion, delivering infrastructure projects on time and on budget, and making sure Clackamas County remains a place where working families can afford to live and thrive.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more about the campaign, the issues ahead, and how you can be part of this effort. For now, I want to thank you for your continued support and for believing in steady, responsible leadership.
Together, we can keep Clackamas County moving forward.
With gratitude,
Paul Savas
Clackamas County Commissioner
